What Are Colon Cleansing Foods

9 April 2009 No Comment

First, what is colon cleansing and why do we need it? I mean, I have heard that question asked numerous times – many people wonder why it is so important to consider cleaning your colon since it will get dirty within the next bowel movement anyway. The truth is, things are not necessarily like that. Colon cleansing should be very important to you because it diminishes the chances of developing colon cancer. Enough said – I might have obtained your attention with that. Now allow me to explain – you see, the fact that you clean your colon once, does not mean you just flush a few spots away – you might even end up cleaning up old fecal (like really old – a few years old) if you are on a very unhealthy diet.

Of course, since we were talking about colon cleansing I figured the best thing to do now is to discuss what are the colon cleansing foods that could be taken into consideration. A healthy colon usually requires a diet that is high on vegetables and fruits. Fiber is another thing that is very important to your diet. You can find rather high fiber content in foods such as fruits, beans, vegetables, nuts and other similar products. A healthy digestive system can be easily maintained if you add a bit more fiber to your diet. Obviously, fiber is not everything, green foods are also necessary for a cleaner colon – consider green foods such as alfalfa, wheatgrass, barley and spirulina.

Chlorophyll is very important for your digestive tract since it helps soothe and heal the damaged portions of your GI tract, and of your colon. The chlorophyll will also encourage the body into drawing more oxygen therefore removing most of those harmful toxins.

Finally yet importantly, even if we are not talking about colon cleansing foods I would recommend drinking plenty of water. In the absence of a good hydration, toxins will start building up, constipation will not hesitate to appear, and you will have a serious series of problems on your hands in no time.
